Gold Coast Turf Club To Welcome Punters On Course From This Saturday

July 2, 2020

After a further easing of restrictions announced on Tuesday the 30th of June, the Gold Coast Turf Club welcomes the announcement of patrons returning to our venue on racedays.

CEO, Steve Lines, said the Club will now work towards implementing our safe return plan for Members and Owners, followed by our hospitality and corporate functions, avid punters and the general public from this Saturday.

“Racing over the last couple of months without the cheering from crowds has been a peculiar time for the industry, we have successfully managed the segmentation of racing zones and participants and gradually ending that period for movement across the whole of Queensland.  Our reopening will be a staged approach in line with the Queensland Government’s Roadmap and our Industry Plan, we are delighted to offer our devoted members first access to register, followed by the general public.”

Mr lines said the process for gaining admission has all moved online and numbers for Members and Owners will be limited throughout July, then we will open more areas for our corporates and punters if all our new measures and restrictions of patrons is respected.  July also welcomes our normal Saturday racing, so we know how important this day is for all to return back to their normal social calendar with friends and family enjoying a day out on track.”

Mr Lines states that the reopening of the Club will be different from a normal raceday with strict health and safety measures in place to protect all industry participants, staff and patrons on track.  Some of these measures include;

  • Segmented areas for Members, Owners and Industry participants

  • Contact tracing through our online booking system

  • Dedicated facilities and exits in each area

Obviously, we will disappoint some people this week as we can’t open the track entirely but we are confident crowd numbers will safely increase over the coming weeks and we ask our Members and punters to keep an eye out on our website and all our social channels for updates.
